CHILTERN SHETLAND PONY GROUP
Established over ten years ago, the Chiltern Group provides a focus for Shetland Pony Breeders and Owners in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas.
At the present time our main activity is to provide a programme of three shows a year. We also hold an Annual Meeting for members in the winter.
Shows are held at the Bury Farm Equestrian Village in Slapton, Beds. This centre went through an extensive renovation recently and now offers excellent facilities, including a restaurant and tack shop. Our shows are normally held in one of the four covered arenas, although there is scope for outdoor shows as well.
Slapton is situated south of Linslade and lies between such major roads as the A505, A4146, A41 and B489.
We run two rings. One is for classes affilated to SPSBS with a Panel Judge in charge. There is a full range of rosettes with a trophy for the Champion pony at each show.
The second (Open) ring is mainly for the younger generation to learn ringcraft and to gain confidence for In-hand showing and the early stages of ridden classes – and also for fun!
This year our shows will be held on Sunday 15th April (Spring); Sunday 1st July (Summer) and Sunday 7th October (Autumn). We look forward to welcoming Mrs E. Lewis for the Affiliated Ring at the Spring Show, Mrs L. Cave in the Summer and Miss K. Nixon in the Autumn.
The Open Ring will be looked after by Emma Payne, Denise Barrett and Jennifer Carrington.
