The award scheme was started to promote the use of the registered Shetland pony and to give children of all abilities classes in which they could take part, so, as well as the ridden Mountain & Moorland classes, there are sections for Pony Club, Dressage, Gymkhana and Working Hunter on and off the lead rein. In fact, points can be gained in over 14 groups. There are trophies for champion riders as well as ponies. An annual awards lunch takes place in December of each year. We have members all over the country from Shetland to Kent, Wales and Northern Ireland. Annual membership is £10 per pony.
