(covers Cornwall, Devon, Somerset) The South West Shetland Pony Group was one of the first groups to be formed and currently has well over one hundred members. It covers the counties of Cornwall, Devon and Somerset. This is a very active group with lots of families and young children within its membership. Three newsletters are produced per year which list all the events taking place, include a special Junior page and also articles and letters produced by its members. The Group holds a wide variety of events each year and tries to cater for all abilities and age ranges. An annual Open Show is held in June and a foal and youngstock show in the Autumn. February is usually set aside for a young handlers event where special emphasis is put on teaching the young members and their friends how to handle and show a pony. The biggest attendance of the year is usually seen at the annual Christmas Lunch when a very large raffle and auction takes place and much fun is had by all.
