Shetland And Riding Pony Club NI
A new Group of Shetland Pony Enthusiasts in Northern Ireland have come together to focus on the versatility and Performance opportunities of the Shetland Pony. All Riding and Driving activities are hoped to be covered with monthly events throughout the Year.
The club kicked off with a series of Cone Driving evenings. At these events experienced competitors worked with those new to the Shetland Pony performance scene, which assisted, informed and encouraged there aspiration to develop an interaction with the ponies.
This type of team building is considered paramount in the objectives of the club and has been an enjoyable experience for all concerned.
It is hoped to continue with such events and especially develop activities with the children i.e. Lead-rein jumping, pony games etc. and have representatives at the Performance show at Malvern in July 2008.
We have members who have participated in the Ridden Performance awards scheme and others with experience in the Driven awards scheme, and they are keen to pass on there knowledge and skills to new members. It is our aim to develop the existing links we have with these and other groups.
Our first meeting was in November 2007 with the Following as Officers:
President Mr. Ian Wilson
Chairman Mr. Alan Sloane
Secretary Mrs. Ruth Wilson
Treasurer Mrs. Catherine Lyttle
Liaison Mrs. Margaret Mulligan
