The summer has been very kind to the members of the group with several members achieving great success in the show rings up and down the country. The group, though only a little over eighteen months old, still goes from strength to strength. We would encourage new members to join us for what are events and activities that focus on our ponies and every aspect of their care, welfare and enjoyment. This year has seen two events organised; we had our meeting in February with a review of the video that had been put together as a guide for judging, and the second event was hosted by John Watson at the Jersey Farm Hotel where we were treated to the tricks of the trade in preparing ponies for the show ring. The evening was rounded off by the attendance of Karen Nixon assisted with comments from Elizabeth Passmore who gave some advice on ring protocol. Everyone then enjoyed the culinary delights of the hotel. Tokens of appreciation were given to our hosts and Karen, courtesy of Clare Robinson and her nursery. Some fifty eight people were booked in for the event and it was an excellent evening. Plans are being made to try and visit a local stud which may be the Parlington Stud. Our winter event sees Peter Tindale joining us as the guest speaker and hopefully a visit to one or two local breeders. We look forward to growing the membership and we are grateful for the support we receive from our members and colleagues in Yorkshire and Cumbria.
